these songs are inspired by a collaboration with my friend zak who makes these beautiful shadow boxes that send me to an otherworldly place, not quite alien but defined in a dream like haze. made from pieces of the world that seem left behind, these tangible memories. he made tape loops of my songs and spooled them inside the boxes. theres so many "broken", degrading or lost pieces/sounds, trying to keep their place but slipping into something less stable than what once was before.

the musical idea is for the loops to not be in perfect sync, they undulate and find each other every once in a while but even on the offswings of their cycles they find harmony. this is of course because they operate in a system that we've agreed upon, key. sometimes as musicians we hope so much to have perfect timing or pitch.... to be in complete control of a craft but it is human to be imperfect and while this idea is extreme in that i want to actually enhance the imperfections, its still an exercise in embracing the cricks and cracks of my own machinations.
